"Domestic Violence" A sad reality of Whole World

Hello Everyone!!!!!✌

Welcome back once again, today I am back with the biggest issue which the whole world is facing. Every year, millions of people all over the world are victims of domestic violence.

Domestic violence can be one of the most difficult types of situations to talk about and to escape from. And it happens to anyone -Women, children, men, spouses and even friends. No one is immune from this violence. Everyone has heard of someone amongst their families, friends, who have suffered some form of domestic violence some form of verbal, physical, sexual, or economic abuse. And Domestic Violence is defined under the Act - PROTECTION OF WOMEN AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, 2005.

Nowadays it becomes necessary to address that domestic violence has become an urgent issue not only for the government but also it's a public health crisis and a criminal act for society. The law provides the ropes for victims to hold on to, it's only through a change in societal attitudes that victims can be empowered to reach out for those ropes and to find out the ways from getting out.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Laws

There are several laws that protect a married woman from abuse from her husband or his relatives.

"SECTION 498A OF INDIAN PENAL CODE" Harassment for dowry by the husband or his family is considered a crime. This harassment can be either mental or physical.

The Protection of Women against Domestic Violence Act 2005 prohibits a wide range of abuse against women — physical, emotional, sexual, and economical. The scope of the Act covers women who are in a live-in relationship and are not married. A woman has the choice to be free from violence and has various options under this Act. She has a right to get an order of protection against her husband and his family, to continue living in the same house i.e. she cannot be thrown out of her matrimonial home even if she reports her abusers, to claim maintenance, to have custody to her children and to claim compensation.

Section 125 of the Indian Penal Code, a woman does not have to necessarily file for a divorce to have a right to receive maintenance from her husband.

Societal attitudes justifying domestic violence from men as well as women have a huge impact. As a society, we need to strengthen our social support system to create safe spaces where women feel comfortable discussing these issues.

our aim should be :-

1. Simplify the laws for all the audience.

2. connect victims to people /organizations that can help them.

3. break the silence and change the narrative that leads to domestic violence by way of quotes, stories.etc
